Artist
Hi, my name is Hiromi. I'm originally from Japan, but studied in England for 7 years and now live in Connecticut with my gorgeous husband and a basset hound girl "Chubby".
I grew up in a very artistic family with my mom being a fashion designer, my dad being a good guitar player and my sister being a singer. My parents always encouraged us to develop our artistic skills and we were given so many opportunities to do so.
My passion for art grew so much more after I moved to England. It was my choice to leave home at the age of 16 to study in England, but I could not speak any English and I was so alone. I was desperate to express indescribable loneliness and the art and music saved my life!! After high school, I decided to put my obsession aside to pursue academic career and finished the masters degree, but something was missing in my life.
Just after I got married in the spring of 2005, I was introduced to lampwork by my silver clay teacher. At the time, I was taking instructor course for silver clay, but as soon as she showed me lampwork, I got hooked! Ever since then, there has been no days that I don't make beads, talk about beads and dream about beads. Really, my poor husband must be so fed up with me always talking nothing but beads. He's really my hero!
I'm only a baby in this lampwork world but I'm determined to improve my skills, learn everything and anything from fellow artists, and always make something to make other people smile.
My beads are also sold at "You've Got to be Beading" in Mystic, Connecticut.
Of course, nobody can beat Chubby when it comes to making people smile... ! Isn't she just adorable!?
